Why we exist

Operators running contract-based businesses in leasing, service agreements, insurance programs, financing structures, and property management have always managed operational complexity through a patchwork of ERPs, spreadsheets, and manual exception handling.

The systems were never built for them. Generic accounting software doesn't understand that a mid-term contract amendment restructures payment obligations. ERP platforms don't know how commissions branch across agents, MGAs, and carriers. Payment processors don't capture the decision logic behind why a dollar moved.

The result is financial operations that depend on institutional memory and teams constantly reconstructing what happened, rather than systems that make it visible.

What Functional Finance is

Functional Finance sits between ERP/accounting systems and payment rails. It understands contracts, their terms, amendments, and obligations, and executes financial logic that flows from that understanding. AI improves interpretation, orchestration, and exception handling. The money movement is always traceable and fully explainable.

Our mission

To make the flow of funds in complex, contract-based businesses traceable, auditable, and explainable at every step.

AI improves how the platform interprets contracts, orchestrates decisions, and handles exceptions. But the money movement itself must remain explainable. Every dollar should trace back to a contract, an event, a rule, or a deliberate decision. Every calculation is auditable. No hidden adjustments, ever.

The 80/20 problem nobody talks about

80% of transactions are fine.

Every vendor in the market handles this part. That is not where the pain is.

20% of transactions eat 80% of the work.

Missing commissions. Unaccounted return premiums. C-levels on calls that should have been automated. This is where relationships die.

FF exists for the whole picture.

Not just the easy 80%. The painful 20% where the real cost and the real damage live.

What we believe

Operators deserve better infrastructure.

Generic software forces operators to adapt their business to fit the tool. We build the other way: starting from operational reality and working back to the software.

Every dollar should be explainable.

Every transaction should trace back to a contract, an event, a rule, or a deliberate choice. Operators need to trust their numbers to make good decisions.

Complexity is a feature, not a bug.

Multi-party payments, mid-term amendments, layered commissions, reconciliation across funding sources. We make it manageable, not invisible.

Partners, not lock-in.

The best infrastructure sits above the payment rail. We integrate with Stripe, Finix, Payrix, and others. The goal is composability, not captivity.

A letter from our CEO

She spent years doing the most critical work at a fast-growing company. Almost no one noticed.

At CoverWallet, Rashmi sat deep inside the financial machinery: billing systems, reconciliation logic, commission structures. Sales and distribution got the spotlight. The work was operationally essential.

Then an employee pulled her aside at a company event and said something she has never forgotten. It wasn't a compliment about her results. It was something quieter. Something that cut closer to the truth.

That moment didn't just stay with her. It became the reason Functional Finance exists.
